Sin & Attonement

Christ died, died get that straight it is very serious, to be a propitiation for our sins. Now, in recent discussions it has come to my attention that there are many, and alot of them apparently very close to me, too, Christians who think that Christ, the one who is sent by God who loved the world, died only to attone for only the Elect, for the non-Christian or person (blessed person I dare say) not aware of the doctrine election (this does not include the people who are opposed to it) this refers to those whom belong to Christ and will join him in Heaven. This is preposterous! God, who loved the world so much that he gave His only Son to the cross, only sought to redeem a fraction of the world he loves!? That is not good news, the work is not finished, then! To say this is to call Christ's words on the cross false! It is finished!

1 John 2:1-2 (ESV) : "My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world."

In 1 John, we are taught that if we do not love our brothers, we do not love God, and if we do not love God, we do not have eternal life. What then can be said of us if we take the loving act of Christ on the cross, the painful act of Christ on the cross, and the holy act of Christ on the cross, and turn it into something reserved just for us, the Elect? We do not love our brothers in Adam, our fellow man. Even if I turned out wrong, thinking that Christ died to redeem all of God's creation, then the demand had to be made upon every member of the Elect to call out to God and beg Him to grant Mercy upon all the creation because He made it Good and called it Very Good once, and things should be on Earth as they are in Heaven! I dare you to call yourself Christian thinking Christ suffered on the cross only for you and not for everything. You call yourself righteous, but you lack all evidence of it in doing so!

Meditations

It's late nights, like these, when I face my doubts and trials. I've had many in my Christian walk in the last few months. It has nothing to do with any situations I have in school this semester, but the start of it seems to correlate, and it scares me. Tonight, I give you some quotes that have been meditations for me these past few months (Those without an author named are words that ring in my mind with no name to them):

"In Christ alone my hope is found."
-In Christ Alone, Hymn

"If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?"
-Percy Bysshe Shelly "Ode to the West Wind"

"What has been is what will be, and what has been done is what will be done, and there is nothing new under the sun."
-Ecclesiastes 1:9

"For eighty years I have served the Lord and He has done me no wrong. I will not blaspheme the name of the King!"
-Polycarp

"If mercy falls upon the broken and the poor,
Dear Father, I will see you, there on distant shores."
-Five Iron Frenzy "On Distant Shores"

"Your Steadfast Love"

"Before the throne of God above
I have a strong and perfect plea.
A great high Priest whose Name is Love
Who ever lives and pleads for me.
My name is graven on His hands,
My name is written on His heart.
I know that while in Heaven He stands
No tongue can bid me thence depart.

When Satan tempts me to despair
And tells me of the guilt within,
Upward I look and see Him there
Who made an end of all my sin.
Because the sinless Savior died
My sinful soul is counted free.
For God the just is satisfied
To look on Him and pardon me.

Behold Him there the risen Lamb,
My perfect spotless righteousness,
The great unchangeable I AM,
The King of glory and of grace,
One in Himself I cannot die.
My soul is purchased by His blood,
My life is hid with Christ on high,
With Christ my Savior and my God"
-Before the Throne of God Above, Hymn

"My Lord and My God"
-John 20:28
